History on Marriage contracts of Israel:
Hebrew marriage contract dating back to ancient times is called the Ketubah. The Ketubah is usually printed in a very beautiful, artistic, and creative way as a keepsake document for the bride and groom and an heirloom to pass on.
The contents of the ketubah reflect on a couple's commitment to love and honor one another, and their respect for one another. Pride was taken in this to pass
onto their children. The oneness together in God. They treasured this.
God was the rule over the woman and man, and Men and women who married had a bond of devotion for life for one another. Just like today this is what is supposed to be in the Christian marriage. And today still God wants the man and woman to have a ONENESS and bond in Him.
God made man and woman so they could be ONE.
Equal Partners in God.
Two halves make a whole and God never said one half was better. They are to love the same and live close to God when they are husband and wife. Notice this triangle. The closer they are to God, the closer their marriage will be. Submitting one to another. Really becoming One in God.
Pride is a killer in marriages today and selfishness. Many times these two characteristics kills the marriage. The prideful spouse has to have his own way, even to the point of controlling, abuse or hurting the other spouse. Their selfishness causes them to stray away from God.
When married our concentration to be to find ways to be closer together and staying closer to God. This takes lots of prayers, staying in the Word and Spirit together.
Treating each other in love instead of being mean. It takes lots of work. And if you really say you love God, you will do the right things to be good to your spouse. AMEN
