The Door

by Apostle Cathryn Ndyabagye

Revelation 3:20
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.

Definition of the word Door
According to Merriam Webster:

1: a usually swinging or sliding barrier
by which an entry is closed and opened;
also : a similar part of a piece of furniture
2: DOORWAY
3: a means of access or participation : OPPORTUNITY
- at one's door : as a charge against one as being responsible

Many of us know about the Four Spiritual Doors:

One - God's love - who has a wonderful plan for your life.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

God's Plan
[Christ speaking] "I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly"  [that it might be full and meaningful].
(John 10:10)

Two - Man is sinful and separated from God. Therefore, he cannot know and experience God's love and plan for his life.

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God"
(Romans 3:23)

Three -Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sins. Through Him you can know and experience God's love and plan for your life.

He Died In Our Place
"God demonstrate His own love towards us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"
(Romans 5:8)

He Rose From the Dead
"Christ died for our sins... He was buried... He was raised on the third day, according to the Scriptures... He appeared to Peter, then to the twelve. After that He appeared to more than five hundred... "
(I Corinthians 15:3-6)

He Is the Only Way to God
"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me'"
(John 14:6)

Four - We must individually receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; then we can know and experience God's love and plan for our lives.

We Must Receive Christ
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name"
(John 1:12)

We Receive Christ Through Faith
"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works that no one should boast"
(Ephesians 2:8-9)

When We Receive Christ, We Experience a New Birth

And there are more meanings behind the word 'door' throughout scripture and apply to us as Christians. Let's look at some of the scriptures and think of how it related to
people then and how it can relatte to us now.

2 Chronicles 23:19
He also stationed doorkeepers at the gates of the LORD's
temple so that no one who was in any way unclean might enter.

Psalm 24:7
Lift up your heads, O you gates; be lifted up, you ancient
doors, that the King of glory may come in.

Psalm 78:23
Yet he gave a command to the skies above and opened the doors of the heavens;

Psalm 84:10
Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked.

Proverbs 8:34
Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.

Hosea 2:15
There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will sing as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.

Matthew 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 7:8
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

Matthew 24:33
Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door.

(Note: Even the colt that Jesus sat on was tied to a doorway)
Mark 11:4 They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it

Luke 12:36
like men waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.

Acts 16:26
Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose.

1 Corinthians 16:9
because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.

Revelation 3:8
I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

Revelation 4:1
[ The Throne in Heaven ] After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, "Come up here, and I will show you what must take place after this."

Throughout the Bible there are many mentions of doors with many reasons...

I had a minister tell me that people who say that God opens doors, were incorrect. But I stand to tell you in the Authority of God, that doors are very important, and were shared all throughout scripture with great meaning! Let me share some with you...

Genesis 4:7
If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."

Exodus 12:7
Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they
eat the lambs.

Keep in mind that the blood of lambs protected the Israelites during plagues of Pharoah. Just as the Blood of Jesus protects us now.

Exodus 12:23
When the LORD goes through the land to strike down the Egyptians, he will see the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer to enter your houses and strike you down.

This also applies to Christians. That God gives us protection from the enemy and God does not permit him to strike us down. We are covered by the blood of Jesus! We never die. AMEN!

Exodus 35:15
the altar of incense with its poles, the anointing oil and the fragrant incense; the curtain for the doorway at the entrance to the tabernacle;

This reminds me of the bowel of incense or the prayers of the saints and Being alone with God in prayer.

Duet. 6:4-9 Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These
commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the
road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.
